I have been trying to get Windows 8.1 working on my Acer C720 laptop (chromebook) as have many others, we have been able to get it mostly working aside from video acceleration, which when the Intel graphics drivers are installed results in the screen appearing blank, if a monitor is plugged into the HDMI port there are strange lines across both or one of the screens which react to mouse movement etc.

I was wondering if this could be some kind of problem with the drivers for the 2955u and if so any help getting correct drivers for it would be greatly appreciated, I will try and post a picture at some point. I realise this is not the norm, but users who want to run windows have nowhere else to go as a licence agreement between acer and Google prevents them from giving us Windows drivers themselves. This means that you can try loading a different Operating System but the internal components on the unit have been designed to work with the original Operating System therefore at this point, the best option is to contact the Computer Manufacture and confirm with them if Win 8.1 can be used with the system and if so, they should be able to provide the drivers for the computer.

I had something similar a long time ago on a older Dell. i am having hard time remembering the details. Check the BIOS and make sure the NIC is enabled. are you pulling the drivers form BRoadcom or from ACER, or have you tried both?

Yes, nic is enabled in BIOS. Flashed BIOS to see if that helped as it has with others in the past. Did not help this time. I pulled the driver from Acer, which only lists 1 lan driver. Tried Broadcom, had 3 possible drivers depending on chipset which I am unsure which chipset the Acer uses. Actually tried 3 drivers sets, both XP and 7. Injected all drivers into the .wim.

hi.a bit later than other posts but I feel I have to add my experience to the blog.Have used a lot of hireko products as I have small clubmaking and repair business and it is top quality compared to any.What the golfing fraternity has to realise that there are a lot of people out there that are over the big names and are into building their own clubs and the numbers are growing, and component quality has improved massively over the 15 yrs I have been involved .This is largely thanks to people like Tom wishon and Jeff summit and others who adopt quality control standard up there with anybody.Dont be afraid to have a go and feel the joy of a club assembled with your own hands and save a heap of cash at the same time .Its addictive .takes a bit of research, but well worth it and setting yourself up is half the fun and you can produce quality clubs at a third of the cost.nuff said .On the acer driver which I have gamed for over a year It is a fairway finder and no shorter as I am fifty five and have hit it 265 mtrs measured at sea level with 3 witnesses .The shaft is a big key as I have a miyazaki blue in mine and in other heads and the acer still goes the same and in some cases better and more accurate .Now I am waiting on the acer xv .cant wait to compare.thanks for reading this .all the best .P

I am having some issues when connecting the dual monitor to my ubuntu 22.04 . at first it was showing port but the screen was black . then updated the nvidia drivers as shown in some blogs . and tried to fix it . but after switching to nvidia drivers its not even showing the port. I have to go through some variation of this process, Windows breaking my Bluetooth drivers, every few weeks/months. Just long enough for me to forget the optimal way to restore these.Anyhow, I hope that fixes it for you too!

You can download from any PC. Save them to that PC's hard drive. Then copy the drivers to some media such as CD or USB flash drive. Take that media to the Dell PC and either copy them to the Dell hard drive and install or just install from the media.

Quick update...I was able to hit the driver into my net and used my PRGR Portable Launch Monitor to get some basic numbers. The PRGR is only really good for getting swing speed, ball speed and smash factor but it is very accurate in those numbers and gives a good comparison driver to driver. Unfortunately it doesn't track spin rates. The SR1 put up numbers that equaled every other driver that I compared it to and if you scrolled through the recorded hits between all the clubs, you wouldn't really be able to tell the SR1 from any of the other drivers in terms of performance. I averaged a smash factor of 1.47 with a low of 1.41 (very high toe shot) and a few shots recording a high of 1.50. Now I just need to get it out on the course and see what kind of ball flight and spin that I'll be getting from it.

Any update on this? I have a 13* Nike Sumo Sasquatch (from 2008) that I turned into a thriver. I hit it fine but am wondering if I could get slightly better results out of the Acer XV Ultimate Thriver since I would assume that component drivers could make up a ton of ground, technologically, in 10+ years. If nothing else, maybe I just take the plunge as it is about a $165 experiment to build up a thriver.

Be very careful when you update Acer drivers for Windows 10 on your system as the drivers for the other operating system like Win8, Win7 or WinXP may not be compatible with the Win 10. Please make sure to upgrade the BIOS before upgrade to Windows 10
