Effort 2: Energy Use

2.1 We use energy-efficient habits to limit our classroom plug load.

  • Our classroom has created an Appliance Inventory to determine the total number of appliances plugged in our classroom.

  • We have eliminated all unnecessary appliances identified in our Appliance Inventory from regular use in our classroom.

  • We have removed all space heaters from regular use in our classroom.

  • We switch appliances such as lamps off when they are not in active use.

  • After our meetings are over, we turn off the lights and put all computer equipment to sleep.

  • We have designated an Electricity Ace to monitor if lights or other appliances have not been shut off and reports patterns to the teacher.

  • Our Electricity Ace periodically checks the classroom plug load to identify unnecessary appliances.

  • See the Appliances Most Wanted presentation for more details

  • Fill out the Appliance Inventory to record your classroom plug load

2.2 We track our classroom heating and report issues effectively.

  • We have designated one Comfort Champion per work area in our classroom to act as a single point of contact for temperature concerns arising in their work area.

  • When we notice temperature fluctuations, we report our concerns to our Comfort Champion.

  • Our Comfort Champion regularly consults with the teacher to discuss how to address temperature issues within our workspace.

  • See the Comfort Champion Presentation
