The department of Mathematics established along with the start of the Aquinas College.  Initially Pre-Degree courses were run in the College and Mathematics course is taught for Group I (Science) students.  In 1995, started  B.Sc. Mathematics programme with a unique combination of Statistics and Computer Science as the subsidiary courses for the first time under Mahatma Gandhi University, Kattayam.  Became a Post Graduate department with the introduction of the programe M.Sc. Statisitcs in the year 2021.  In tune with the NEP 2020 and with the direction of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kattayam, B.Sc. Mathematics (Honours) programme were introduced in the year 2024.  Outstanding performances from the part of student community elevated the status of the Department at its esteem many times.  By GOD's grace, 1000 marks out of a maximum of 1000 was achieved in the year 2007 for the B.Sc. Mathematics Degree Result.  The Alums of the Department excel in various fields of work in India and abroad.
