The Accounting Society at the University of Georgia is a student-led organization dedicated to helping students of all majors gain a strong foundation in accounting and finance. We believe that accounting is the language of business, and our goal is to make it accessible and valuable for anyone interested in building real-world skills, improving financial literacy, and preparing for successful careers.
Membership in the Accounting Society offers students the chance to grow academically, professionally, and personally. Whether you’re pursuing a career in accounting, exploring finance, or simply looking to strengthen your understanding of business, the Accounting Society provides the resources, community, and experiences to help you succeed.
In addition, the Accounting Society holds social and service events at which students network with their fellow peers in a comfortable atmosphere. Service events are co-sponsored with a firm/company to volunteer for the support of a particular cause. These service events also provide a more informal networking environment with the professionals.
The Mission of the Accounting Society is to contribute to our members’ knowledge and understanding of the accounting discipline; stimulate our members’ interests in the practicing profession of accounting, including related fields such as finance, information technology and systems (IT&S) and advisory services; emphasize academic achievement, and address the personal and professional needs of our members by complementing their academic experiences with events, activities and involvements that will contribute to their personal self-development, as well as professional growth and development as they prepare themselves for careers in the accounting field, including related fields such as finance, IT&S and advisory services.
The Accounting Society has a strong commitment to constantly implementing new creative events for its membership, and it continues to develop and to grow through obtaining new members, and by improving membership retention rates.
We are committed to helping members build the technical, communication, and leadership skills needed to succeed in accounting and business careers.
We uphold honesty, accountability, and ethical behavior in all academic, professional, and organizational activities.
We foster a supportive and inclusive environment where members can learn from one another and grow together.
