On April 15, 2022, Chancellor Jimmy Baker approved the conversion of the Alabama Consortium for Technology and Learning to an ACCS-sanctioned professional association. The newly established association is the ACCS Distance Education Administrator’s Association. Chancellor Baker stated that an official ACCS professional association dedicated to distance education administrators is now warranted based on the continued growth in online learning at ACCS institutions and on the increased importance of distance education to ACCS students. In addition, the transition to a single ERP system (Banner) and the move toward greater consistency in technology that integrates with Banner (including technology used to facilitate distance learning) makes collaboration between institutions and the sharing of best practices more important than ever.
