The North East Accretion Alliance is a group of researchers from Newcastle University and Durham University (United Kingdom) who are interested in astronomical accretion process. This includes accretion onto any compact objects (supermassive black holes, stellar mass black holes, neutron stars, white dwarfs...). Our primary goals are to:
Initiate collaborative projects and share expertise. This includes research, public engagement and teaching.
Provide opportunities for our early career researchers to expand their networks, lead new projects, and generally broader their skills and experiences.
Co-ordinate events and visitors between the two, geographically very close, institutions.
The organisation is currently led by Chris Harrison (Newcastle; christopher.harrison@newcastle.ac.uk) and Dave Alexander (Durham; d.m.alexander@durham.ac.uk).
We aim to meet once every four weeks in a hybrid format. This includes internally-led discussion sessions on research projects and topical developments, as well as external speakers. A few times a year we aim to hold full day or half day workshops for interactive sessions to develop ideas, plan projects and share skills.
