Accompong, located in Cockpit Country Jamaica, is a historic and culturally rich Maroon town founded in 1738/9 after securing autonomy through a peace treaty with the British. It is one of the longest-standing free communities in the country, with the Accompong Maroons preserving unique traditions, including their language, music, and customs of self-governance and resistance. Accompong offers a rare opportunity to experience Jamaica’s history from the perspective of the Maroons, blending Arawak Taíno and African heritage with the island's colonial past. Visitors can explore its vibrant culture, stunning landscapes, and participate in festivals like the Accompong Maroon Fest, celebrating our enduring legacy.
