To work with local governments during their decision-making process, ensuring careful consideration of actions related to community, shared culture, heritage, and public policy.
Coming together is the essence of community. It involves citizens identifying what they value and uniting to build, maintain, and protect the culture that defines them. The Association for Culture and Community Ltd. was established to provide a framework and forum for resident participation in public matters across Marinette and Menominee Counties, including our cities, towns, and villages. By highlighting the importance of our shared heritage, the Association aims to preserve our community's unique cultural identity. As our community evolves, we remain committed to ensuring that cultural richness continues to guide our collective decisions as we shape our future.
Advocating for Public Input - Encouraging local governments to seek and incorporate community feedback on decisions affecting culture and community development.
Educating and Engaging Residents - Working closely with friends, the ACC will seek to protect our rich heritage while identifying opportunities for continued educational and cultural growth.
Fostering Community Involvement - Encouraging active participation and collaboration among residents to strengthen cultural ties and enhance the community’s collective identity.
The Association for Community and Culture (ACC) initial project will focus on the Marinette County Board’s intended disposition of the UWGB-Marinette properties (owned by Marinette County). These properties once included native Americans’ heritage on the shores of Green Bay, the historical Chautauqua assemblies that took place next to the site, and the education and cultural exposure of college students and the broader community for decades.
The ACC advocates that the Board seek out, and give great deference to public input provided by this ACC and others, related to continuing the cultural and public nature of the campus properties. Continuation of culture on the site could include, by way of example, facilities related to education, science, technology, art, music, literature, dance, ethnicity, wellness, religion, athletics, and recreation.
