ACCESS Annual Cycle and Seasonality (ACyS) student recruitment page

The ACCESS programme is a sub-programme of the South African Department of Science and Technology’s Global Change Grand Challenge, is implemented by the National Research Foundation and hosted by the CSIR. ACCESS has implemented a research programme comprising a suite of projects aimed at understanding the drivers and dynamics, variability and role of the annual climate cycle and seasonality on natural and human systems, at a range of time and space scales. Given that environmental challenges are an increasingly real obstacle to sustainable economic development, this is an opportune time to enter into an exciting and meaningful research career in South Africa.

A consortium of partners, working across the country, is seeking to recruit students to complete their post-graduate studies within the projects, to join our vibrant community of researchers & students. We are looking for those candidates who are passionate and committed to developing their research careers and who will make a meaningful contribution to the sustainable development of our country.

We have several full or part-time bursary positions available for honours, masters, doctoral & post-doctoral candidates located within the six projects (see below) at various locations around the country. We are seeking students who have a range of backgrounds and skills sets in the fields of the biological science, mathematical and statistical sciences, ocean science, applied social sciences, environmental science, atmospheric science and other related fields. Our programme is committed to the transformation goals and policies of the NRF and DST and hence preference will be given to designated groups which include South African nationals, black (inclusively defined) and female candidates. Read about the projects and follow the link to find an application form. Applications close on the 15th of November 2018.
