The "Save Settings" utility in the user interface of your modem allows you to save and restore your custom modem settings. If you previously saved your settings to a file on your computer using this tool, here is how to restore those settings on your modem.
NOTE: This article applies to newer CenturyLink modems. Other modems may have different characteristics, lights, and behaviors.
1. Connect a device, such as a computer or tablet, directly to your modem using the Ethernet cable (usually yellow).
2. Open a web browser and type http://192.168.0.1 in the web address field.

3. Log in to your modem settings (GUI) with the administrator username and password, then select "Apply". Unless you have changed the default settings, you can find the login information on the label of the modem.

4. Select "Utilities".

5. Select "Save configuration".

6. Select "Upload file".

7. Select "Choose File" to find where the file is stored on your computer.
Click Browse
8. Locate the configuration file you previously saved and select "Open". (As in the example image: "model # -Config-date")

9. Select "Apply". Wait 3-5 minutes for the internet light to turn green, then open a web browser to connect. If the internet light does not turn green, visit the internet light page to find solutions.

1. Access the browser-based utility of the router.
Log in to your router's browser-based utility by entering 192.168.0.1 or your default configuration IP in a browser.
2. Go to the "Advanced Settings" menu.
Click on the "Advanced Settings" link.
3. Select the "WAN Configuration" link on the left.
Click "WAN Settings" in the "Broadband Settings" section.
4. Change your DNS type.
Options may vary depending on your firmware. Scroll down to "4. Set DNS type", then selected Static DNS.
5. Enter the first DNS resolution address.
Enter 208.67.222.222 in the "Primary DNS:" field.
6. Enter the second DNS resolution address.
Enter 208.67.220.220 in the "Secondary DNS" field.
7 Save your settings.
Click "Apply" to save your settings.
8. Make sure your settings have been applied.
Make sure the changes have been applied on the Modem Status page.
9. Test your configuration.
