Our vision for a greener, more prosperous Athlone
Our town is at a turning point, with climate change being one of the biggest threats to our society is there any hope for the future?
Athlone is a unique town situated on the border of 2 councils but being split is not the only challenge to us as we face climate change, congestion and being situated on a flood plain.
Our town is continuously developing with new industry, transport routes, schools and more popping up over the last decade however we have a lot of progress to make before our town becomes unsustainable.
Arcadia Retail Park is a vitally important part of Athlones economy and Arcadia and the businesses situated there must play a big role in Athlones continued development. But will they?
From politicians, to entrepreneurs, to just the average Athlone resident. We all have our part to play but what can we do and what can those at the top do to encourage that change?
Throughout this process we worked extensively to coordinate on roles and work together to bring together a cohesive and comprehensive project in order to present our vision for Athlone and what we believe could be done to tackle prospective and current problems with our town. Throughout the process we went through a number of steps such as going around Athlone in order to take pictures and see firsthand what issues we may be able to tackle, doing further online research on certain areas of Athlone, compiling that into a document and going through it as a team and finally completing the video and compiling everything into this website.
