Amanda N. Calhoun Ph.D. Candidate - Earth and Planetary Sciences Harvard University
I am a Ph.D. candidate in the department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Harvard University, advised by Professors Ann Pearson and Dave Johnston. My research focuses on organic and inorganic geochemical proxies of past environmental change. Specifically, I use lipid and isotope systems to better understand microbial adaptations to extreme environments, biochemical mechanisms, and the co-evolution of Earth and life.Â
I am a member of the Origins of Life Initiative at Harvard and am a trained geologist and chemist. I am passionate about teaching and mentorship in the geosciences, specifically for underrepresented groups. Please reach out for any collaborative interests or questions!
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, running, trivia, baking, pickleball, reading sci-fi and fantasy books, and any dog interaction.
