A geometrical analysis of cranidia of the three earliest described species of Acadoparadoxides collected from measured levels at Bou Tiouit, Tarhoucht, namely, A. pampalius, A. levisettii and A. cf. mureroensis, was carried out in 2017. Full explanatory notes on the results of this analysis are below, together with a chart of the stratigraphic distribution of the cranidia at Bou Tiouit. This is followed by files of individual analyses of the cranidia of the three species. Additional material from the large excavations near Tarhia, north of Tarhoucht, is also included in the files. Addenda referring to cranidia of Acadoparadoxides ovatopyge from Bou Tiouit, and to a collection of cranidia and pygidia made by a team from Spain at Assemame, 10 km south of Bou Tiouit, can be found below these files, followed by a new geometrical analysis of the holotype cranidium for Acadoparadoxides mureroensis (Sdzuy, 1958) from Spain. The next item is the full collecting chart for all specimens collected by Tony Vincent at Bou Tiouit between 2007 and 2016, showing the gradual accumulation of material from measured levels, almost entirely at half-metre intervals or less. Finally, an article was published by Javier Álvaro and Jorge Esteve in 2020, in which it was claimed that the geometrical analyses of cranidia herein are inaccurate, so a response to this allegation is included at the end of this page. It suggests that, in fact, it is probably some of the authors' own measurements that are inappropriate, rather than these analyses! Access to all the relevant articles is provided at the end of this page.
The following chart takes into account the assignment corrections recommended in the main notes for the geometrical analysis at the head of this page, and it includes all the cranidia in the files above except for one cranidium of Acadoparadoxides pampalius from 12.0 m at Bou Tiouit whose actual width was not recorded. A more complete explanation of the chart is in the critique of the 'Reply' article by Álvaro & Esteve (2020) below ~
