Privacy Policy for Acadence
Effective date: July 19, 2026
Developer: Abdulla Danish
Acadence is an attendance-management application primarily intended for teachers, lecturers, academic staff, and students.
This Privacy Policy explains how Acadence accesses, processes, stores, exports, and shares information when you use the application.
Privacy at a glance
Acadence stores student, class, and attendance information locally on the user’s device.
Acadence does not use accounts, cloud synchronization, advertising, analytics, Firebase, or a developer-operated backend.
Student and attendance information leaves the device only when the user intentionally exports and shares an Excel file through another application.
1. Information processed by Acadence
Users may enter or import the following information:
• Student name
• Student USN or identification number
• Semester and section
• Branch and subject
• Attendance dates and attendance records
• Present or absent status
This information is processed only to provide class, student, and attendance-management features.
2. Local storage
Student, class, and attendance information is stored locally on the user’s device.
Acadence does not:
• Require account creation or login
• Upload app data to a developer-operated server
• Provide cloud synchronization
• Use Firebase
• Use advertising or analytics services
• Automatically transmit attendance information over the internet
The developer does not receive or have access to information stored in the app’s local database.
3. Excel file import
Acadence allows users to import student information from Excel files.
The app accesses a file only after the user selects it using the Android system file picker. Acadence does not scan unrelated files on the device.
Imported information is processed locally and stored in the app’s local database.
4. Exporting and sharing attendance files
Acadence allows users to create Excel files containing attendance information.
Exported files may contain student names, USNs, class information, dates, present or absent status, and attendance summaries.
Acadence does not automatically send these files.
Information leaves the device only when the user intentionally chooses the sharing feature and selects another application or service, such as email, messaging, cloud storage, or file sharing.
After a file is shared, its handling is governed by the privacy and security practices of the selected recipient or third-party service.
Users should share attendance information only with authorized persons.
5. Data collection and sharing by the developer
Acadence does not transmit student or attendance data to the developer.
The developer does not sell, rent, profile, track, or use this information for advertising, analytics, or marketing.
User-initiated export and sharing is performed only at the user’s request.
6. Internet access and third-party services
Acadence does not require internet access for its core functionality.
The app does not currently integrate advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, cloud databases, remote authentication services, or third-party tracking tools.
External applications selected by the user for sharing may process information under their own privacy policies.
7. Device permissions and file access
Acadence uses Android’s system file-selection and sharing features to allow users to select specific Excel files and save or share exported files.
The app does not require unrestricted access to all files stored on the device.
8. Data retention and deletion
Information remains stored locally until the user deletes it, clears the app’s storage, or uninstalls Acadence.
Users can remove information by:
• Deleting an individual student
• Deleting selected students
• Deleting all students in a class
• Deleting attendance records
• Deleting a class and its associated information
• Clearing Acadence storage through Android settings
• Uninstalling the application
Exported files are stored separately from the app database. Deleting information inside Acadence does not delete copies that have already been saved or shared.
9. Data security
Acadence uses Android application storage and local database mechanisms to store information.
Users should protect their devices using a PIN, password, biometric lock, current security updates, and appropriate access controls.
No method of electronic storage is completely secure. The developer cannot guarantee protection against device compromise, malware, unauthorized physical access, or actions taken after a file is exported or shared.
10. Responsibilities of users and institutions
Teachers, academic staff, institutions, students, and other users are responsible for ensuring that they have the authority and any required permission to enter, process, export, or share student information.
Users are responsible for:
• Entering accurate information
• Restricting access to authorized persons
• Sharing exported files only with authorized recipients
• Following applicable institutional policies and privacy laws
• Deleting information when it is no longer required
11. Student use
Although Acadence is primarily designed for teachers and academic staff, students may also use the app.
Students should not enter or share another person’s information unless they have permission or another valid legal basis to do so.
12. Children’s privacy
Acadence is not specifically designed for children under 13.
The developer does not knowingly collect information directly from children because app data is stored locally and is not transmitted to the developer.
When information about a minor is entered, the responsible adult, institution, or user must comply with applicable child-privacy, education-record, and consent requirements.
13. Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when Acadence’s features, data practices, legal requirements, or third-party integrations change.
The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when an update is published.
