The library is undergoing renovation at the start of the 2020-21 school year. Good timing, since library classes and open browsing are not available under Dept. of Health guidelines. Instead, we have this website for teaching and book browsing. Students can have up to five books out at a time. Books can be returned anytime, but check-out will be done through email requests and delivery or pick-up. For students in school, I will drop off books in the classroom. For remote students, I will label them for pick-up in the front lobby.
As for remote library time, Kindergarten and First grade will enjoy a variety of classic favorites along with the very best in new children's fiction. Second grade begins with a short novel filled with animal characters and one feisty fairy named Flory. Third graders will delve into timeless tales from the myth, folk and fairy tale genres. All upper elementary students begin the year with Google's Digital Citizenship curriculum Be Internet Awesome. It comes with a fun self-paced game called Interland. These students have been thrown into a screen-heavy world this year--it'll be good to become more online-savvy.
I'd love to hear from you. What have you been reading? What would you like to read next? These are two of my favorite questions!
Warmly,
Ms. Eileen Parks
Here are some photos I took this summer during the first phase of renovations:
