Guidelines for Online Tutoring Appointments

· Be polite and respectful to everyone

· Have available your assignment, textbook, and any other resources

· Do as much of the assignment as possible prior to your appointment

· Have specific questions ready

· Be willing to work independently after the session

· Allow sufficient time for completion of assignments

· Students are limited to 60 minutes per tutor per day

· Silence your cell phone

· Academic integrity is required in the Academic Success Center

· Provide study tips and help you improve your study skills

· Review and explain rules and key concepts

· Give examples and work through practice problems

· Help you understand the instructions for your assignment

· Discuss patterns of errors and how you can correct them

· Coach you in how to check or proofread your own work

· Review graded tests/quizzes to help you understand mistakes

· Offer constructive feedback and encouragement

· Refer you to your instructor for additional assistance

· Direct you to additional resources

· Be a friendly online studies resource

· Assist in any way with taking a quiz or exam

· Review quiz/test questions that are still open online or still due

· Check your homework or proofread your paper

· Do your homework for you

· Be expected to have all the answers

· Summarize or provide the main idea of a reading assignment

· Provide answers to an assignment

· Read your assignment to you

· Be on “stand-by” while you complete an assignment

· Take the place of your instructor or class participation
