1. Introduction

Welcome to ABYT (Adventure Begins Your Tale), a retro-style browser platformer game. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect — including through your player profile, profile photos, and device camera — how we use it, and your rights.

By playing ABYT and using any profile or camera features, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the game and its features.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Player Profile Information

ABYT includes an optional player profile feature. When you set up a profile, you may provide:

• Display name / player name

• Profile picture (uploaded from your device or captured via your camera)

Profile data is stored locally in your browser's localStorage and is not transmitted to any external server unless you explicitly opt into a cloud sync feature (if and when offered).

2.2 Profile Photos — Upload from Device

When you tap "Upload Photo", ABYT accesses your device's file system solely to let you select an image file. We do not scan, read, or access any other files on your device.

Specifically regarding uploaded photos:

• What we access: Only the image file you explicitly select using the file picker dialog.

• How it is stored: The selected image is converted to a base64 data URL and saved in your browser's localStorage on your device only.

• What we do NOT do: We do not upload your photo to any server, share it with third parties, or access your photo library beyond the single file you choose.

• Deletion: You can remove your profile photo at any time by clearing your profile in-game or clearing your browser's localStorage.

2.3 Camera Access — Live Capture

When you tap "Use Camera", ABYT requests permission to access your device's camera through your browser's standard permission system. You will see a browser-level permission prompt before any camera access begins.

Specifically regarding camera use:

• Purpose: The camera is used solely to let you take a profile picture within the game.

• When it activates: The camera only activates after you explicitly tap "Use Camera" and grant permission. It is never activated automatically, in the background, or without your knowledge.

• What is captured: When you tap "Capture", a single still image is taken from the live video stream.

• Video stream: The live camera stream is displayed only within the game interface for framing purposes. It is not recorded, stored, or transmitted.

• How the photo is stored: The captured image is saved as a base64 data URL in your browser's localStorage on your device only. It is not sent to any server.

• Camera deactivation: The camera stream is immediately stopped when you tap "Cancel", "Capture", close the profile panel, or navigate away from the game.

• Permissions: You may revoke camera permission at any time through your browser or device settings. Revoking permission will prevent the camera feature from working but will not affect other parts of the game.

2.4 Automatically Collected Information

If ABYT is hosted on a web server, standard server logs may automatically collect:

• IP address and approximate geographic location

• Browser type, version, and operating system

• Device type (desktop, tablet, mobile)

• Pages visited and time spent

• Referring URLs and date/time of access

2.5 Game Data

ABYT stores game progress data (score, level, settings, player name, profile picture) locally in your browser's localStorage. This data remains on your device and is never transmitted to any server without your explicit consent.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above for the following purposes:

• Profile personalization: To display your chosen name and profile picture within the game (e.g., above your character, in the HUD).

• Game experience: To remember your preferences and progress between sessions.

• Camera feature: Solely to capture a profile photo at your explicit request.

• Analytics & improvement: To understand how players engage with the game and fix bugs (server-side logs only, if applicable).

• Legal compliance: To comply with applicable laws and legal obligations.

4. Data Storage & Local Storage

All profile data — including your name, profile picture, and game progress — is stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage on your own device. Key points:

• No profile data or photos are uploaded to ABYT servers.

• Data persists until you clear your browser's storage or uninstall the app.

• You can delete all stored data at any time by clearing localStorage in your browser settings, or by resetting your profile within the game.

• We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Analytics cookies, if any, will be disclosed separately with opt-out options.

5. Camera & Storage Permissions — Platform Notes

Web Browsers (Desktop & Mobile)

ABYT uses the standard browser MediaDevices API (getUserMedia) to request camera access. Your browser will display a permission prompt the first time camera access is requested. You can manage or revoke this permission at any time in your browser's site settings.

iOS (Safari / WKWebView)

On iOS devices, camera access requires the NSCameraUsageDescription permission. The system will display a standard iOS permission dialog. You can manage camera access under Settings > Safari (or the relevant app) > Camera.

Android (Chrome / WebView)

On Android, camera permission is requested at the browser level. You can manage permissions under Settings > Apps > Browser > Permissions > Camera.

6. Sharing of Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, profile photos, or any locally stored game data to third parties. Sharing only occurs in these limited circumstances:

• Service Providers: Trusted vendors who help operate the game (e.g., hosting), bound by confidentiality.

• Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or governmental authority.

• Business Transfers: In connection with a merger or acquisition, with the acquiring party bound by this policy.

• Safety: To protect the rights, property, or safety of ABYT, its users, or the public.

7. Data Retention

Profile data and photos are stored locally in your browser until you manually clear them. If future server-side features are introduced, we will retain your data only as long as necessary and disclose the retention period. Server access logs, if any, are retained for a maximum of 90 days.

8. Children’s Privacy

ABYT is a general-audience game. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). The camera and photo upload features are intended for players who have reached the applicable age of consent in their jurisdiction. If a child has used these features without parental consent, please contact us and we will help you remove the locally stored data.

9. Data Security

Because all profile and photo data is stored locally on your device, its security depends on your device and browser security. We recommend:

• Using a current, up-to-date browser

• Keeping your device's operating system updated

• Using a screen lock on your device

• Being cautious when using ABYT on shared or public devices

For any server-side data, we apply reasonable technical and organizational security measures.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

• Access: Request a copy of data we hold about you.

• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.

• Deletion: Delete your profile and photo by clearing localStorage or resetting your profile in-game.

• Portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format.

• Objection: Object to processing for certain purposes.

• Withdraw Consent: Revoke camera permission at any time via browser/device settings.
