My teaching is currently concentrated in the (E)MBA programmes at Frankfurt School. In the part-time and full-time MBA programmes, I teach a module on "Corporate Financial Policies" where MBA students develop a set of tools, techniques, and concepts that help them make sound investment decisions (in the form of investment projects or full-scale acquisitions) as well as sound financing decisions that support the growth of a business (funding decisions, cost of capital, etc.). In addition, I teach an MBA Elective on "Mergers & Acquisitions" which provides a comprehensive, hands-on overview of M&A – with a specific focus on the German / DACH region. The course is thereby structured along the value chain of a typical M&A deal and covers its various complex issues (growth roadmap, valuation, financing, structuring, …). In the school's Executive MBA, I teach similar topics - integrated into the summer elective "Finance for Growth".
In addition, I teach the course "Corporate Finance and Governance" in the Master in Management programme as well as the PhD course "Empirical Asset Pricing."
I also frequently supervise students' master theses. For instance, I have been involved in many consulting projects in the (E)MBA programmes, with large global companies such as BMW, Clariant, Commerzbank, Continental, Deutsche Bank, Deutsche Börse, Infineon, KION, Lufthansa, Porsche Consulting, and Siemens but also with small and medium-size enterprises or NGOs. Similarly, I have been a frequent advisor for students' Entrepreneurial Business Plans.
At INSEAD, I had been primarily teaching the "Financial Markets and Valuation" MBA core course in Fontainebleau (from 2013 to 2018; latest teaching rating: 4.88/5); winning the Best Teacher Award Core Courses multiple times (first price: classes 16J & 18J; nominated: class 17D). In addition, I had been teaching the "Corporate Finance" EMBA core course in Abu Dhabi, Beijing, and Singapore (latest teaching rating: 4.83/5) and the Empirical Asset Pricing A course in the PhD programme. I had also occasionally been teaching in the pre-MBA Business Foundations Programme in Fontainebleau & Singapore (latest teaching rating: 4.78/5). Finally, together with Laurence Capron, I had developed the "Build, Borrow, Buy Deals / Valuing Innovation" joint Strategy & Finance course for the school's Master in Management programme, for which we received the MIM21 and MIM22 "Teaching Award Best Practicals Course" in my final two years at INSEAD.
I have also been gained ample teaching experience in Executive Education at INSEAD - in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Among others, I was the Programme Co-Director of the school’s flagship “Finance for Executive” programme. In addition, I have been teaching for many years in various open-enrollment programmes (incl. "M&A and Corporate Strategy", "Management Acceleration Programme", …) and in customer-specific programmes with many global clients. My teaching was recongized multiple times with the "Executive Education Reward for Outstanding Teaching".
