Deborah Nicol is a self taught artist, working primarily in Acrylics. Deb started her artistic endeavors with pencil portraits, quickly moving into Oil Pastels and Oils and expanding into landscapes and paintings of children. The art slowed as her family grew but she continued with pencil sketches of many subjects. In recent years she has moved into Acrylics and finding her true passion in Abstract venues. She uses many colors that are emotive of the sea, the shore and the woods. She is influenced by her surroundings, family and friends.
The art is always directed towards evoking a feeling of connection to the fragility of our environment. Connecting us to the hope of preserving the beauty and the necessity of keeping our planet safe, for us and for the future generations.
Deborah Nicol lives and works in Parksville, BC, Canada.
She is an Artist in Residence at The MacMillan Art Gallery in Parksville, BC.
