Lets get one thing straight, no-one could ever get 0% body fat, its just not possible. You need a decent level of it to survive.

It’s important that you realise this at the start of your fat loss phase. The healthiest way to get lean is not to set a random body fat percentage goal. However, if you're really keen to have a percentage in mind, be realistic and remember that you need some level of fat to stay fit and healthy.

These methods are: Skinfold callipers, Dexa scan, Bioelectrical impedance, The Bod and Hydrostatic weighing.

Skinfold callipers is the most simple way to measure subcutaneous body fat, ideally you'd want to have it measured by a professional, if you're adamant at doing it yourself, then take the time to research so that you know that you're doing it correctly and are provided with accurate results. Again, its important that you understand that it takes experience to provide accurate results. This device can measure skinfolds at the triceps, above the hip bone, thigh, abdomen, chest, near the armpit and beneath the shoulder blade. This device is cheap, you can fit it in your pockets and the results are shown straight away.

Dexa Scan is probably the most accurate way of measuring body fat and gives you very detailed information about the amount of body fat in different areas of your body and bone density. However these machines do tend to be a bit more pricey.

"You have a variety of options to choose from, when its comes to cardio, just choose what you can do and what you enjoy the most, and fit it into your lifestyle. If it means going for a run, a swim, or hiking up some mountains... then great. Now, we're obviously not limited to just those options. There are many cardio machines at the gym. You need to choose the activities that gets your heart rate up and increases the calories burned throughout the day. The key with all training during a fat loss phase is to keep it to a certain level that your body can cope with. It is important to remember that you will be eating in a slight calorie deficit. You need to make sure you can recover from training and keep your appetite in balance."

To effectively lose fat, you must to eat less than this. It is entirely up to you how much less you decide to eat. If you really desire to lose fat as fast as you possibly can, then you will need to have a larger calorie deficit. If you have some time or are not trying to lose fat that quickly, then sure, you can afford to have a smaller deficit. Diets such as vegan, low carb, intermittent fasting, and strict meal plans may all help you lose fat. Bare in mind that the key with all of them is that you are able to get in a calorie deficit and be consistent with it. You should obviously be limiting processed foods and fill your diet with as much nutrient-dense food as possible because this type of natural food won’t use up all your calorie allowance.
