I am an assistant professor of data science at Baker University, starting in Fall 2025.
I recently was a visiting professor of mathematics and data science at William Jewell College, from 2024 to 2025. Prior to that, I obtained my Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Kansas alongside a graduate certificate in Data Science. My Ph.D. advisor was Dr. Emily E. Witt concerning commutative algebra. In particular, my research interests include topological properties of spectra, vanishing of local cohomology modules, and Lyubeznik numbers specifically involving Stanley-Reisner rings. My doctoral dissertation with Dr. Witt is titled "Local cohomology of subspace arrangements and simplicial homology".
Before KU, I received my M.S. in Mathematics from Missouri State University. I worked on a Master's Thesis with Dr. Les Reid titled "Affine and Projective Planes". Before MSU, I completed my undergraduate work at Southwest Baptist University.
In addition to teaching and research, I am also a Science Mentor with the Frontiers for Young Minds journal. Check out my Loop profile.
