Under Construction: The contents of this page are a draft and will be updated in the coming weeks.
Create an engaging, constructive, and active learning environment by utilizing responsive, approachable, and modern teaching methods.
My teaching style focuses on providing students with clear, structured, and understandable explanations and lessons. Further, I seek to engage students in active learning to complement my teaching. Below are some ways I work to provide this.
Students are given summary packets which go along with the examples I go through, providing text and visual aids to help students follow along and take notes in a structured and organized way.
After I complete working through my examples, I leave time to complete an active learning activity which closely resembles some of the examples that we just went through.
I allow students a few minutes, and then go around the classroom checking on student progress. I can let them know how well they are progressing or answer any questions.
Students take their active learning activities with them to turn in to the LMS by the due date.
If they complete the activity with no issues, then I will let them know before they leave class.
Otherwise, they will be encouraged to see me or a tutor to work together to complete and turn in the activity.
Students are highly encouraged to visit during my office hours or one of the tutoring services on campus to engage with others regarding any questions they might have.
Communication to the entire class happens continuously and regularly through the semester. I send weekly concise emails outlining what will be covered and what will be due. Reminders are frequent to help students keep track.
Individual students who might be falling behind are contacted to check if there are any questions or concerns and to remind of tutoring and resources available.
Many self-study resources are available with the following:
Additional packets of practice and review given in class and posted to the LMS
Videos and other resources posted to the LMS
Similarly, exam reviews are provided to all students, and we go through the reviews in class. Each review is printed and given out, and the printed copies have QR codes which link to my review videos and resources.
Some ways I work to reach students with regular communication and outreach:
Weekly email summaries outlining what will be done in class and what is due.
Frequent encouragement to visit me or tutors.
Weekly outreach and communication to students who are falling behind or seem to be struggling.
I have videos recorded for most all of my lessons. All my videos can be access at this link:

I also post all my videos to my classes in my LMS.
I make extensive use of my LMS for all of my classes, both online and face-to-face. Some examples:
Lessons are organized by week, with folders for each section and subject, containing the videos, activities, assignments, etc.
Each week includes a summary suggesting ways to space out the content and cover it effectively.
I work to make support and communication tools easy to find and effective to use.
My website includes examples of some of the resources I use in my classes. These can be accessed using the navigation links.
