1.0 ABOUT THE COMMUNITY
1.1 The Above community is a gentle space where adults share what helps them with anger, anxiety, stress, overthinking and more, and support each other. Everyone here is working on something hard. A few simple rules keep it that way.
1.2 WHO CAN JOIN
(a) The community is for people aged 18 and over. Teen accounts cannot see or post in it.
(b) If Above does not know your age yet, it asks before you join in, and it keeps your age with your account without showing it to anyone.
(c) You need an Above account to use the community.
1.3 These guidelines are part of our Terms of Use at https://sites.google.com/view/above-app/terms-of-use.
2.0 THE FOUR RULES
You see these four rules the first time you open the community. Tapping "I'll be kind" means you agree to them.
2.1 BE KIND
(a) Lead with warmth. Share your own experience rather than telling others what they should do.
(b) Disagree gently, if at all.
(c) No insults, mocking, harassment, threats or hate of any kind.
2.2 NO MEDICATION ADVICE
(a) Share what helps you, but leave medication questions to a doctor.
(b) Do not recommend, discourage or give doses for medicines or supplements, and do not give diagnoses.
2.3 KEEP IT PRIVATE
(a) No emails, phone numbers, social media handles or links, for your safety and others'.
(b) Do not share anyone's full name, address or other details that could identify them.
(c) Above blocks posts that include contact details or links.
2.4 IN CRISIS? REACH OUT NOW
(a) If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, please contact a helpline or emergency services. Community replies cannot replace that.
(b) Above's crisis screen, in Settings, then Crisis support, lists support in your country, and our Support page at https://sites.google.com/view/above-app/support has more.
(c) If a post you write suggests you might be in danger, Above will not post it. Instead, it will show you where to get help right away.
(d) Above is not an emergency service. We do not watch the community around the clock and we cannot send help to you, so please reach out to a helpline or emergency services yourself.
3.0 ALSO NOT ALLOWED
(a) Content that encourages or describes methods of self-harm, suicide or disordered eating.
(b) Sexual content, or anything involving the exploitation of children.
(c) Illegal content, or encouraging illegal acts.
(d) Spam, advertising, fundraising, or anything off-topic.
(e) Pretending to be someone else, including a professional.
(f) Sharing someone else's story without their permission.
4.0 HOW POSTS ARE CHECKED
4.1 Replies can be up to 500 characters.
4.2 Every post is checked automatically before other members see it. The check combines a filter for contact details, links, harassment and crisis language with an AI model made by OpenAI, which we reach through our provider OpenRouter.
4.3 Most posts appear after a quick check. Some wait for a review, and some are not posted. You see a label on your own post if it is waiting or could not be posted.
4.4 Checks can make mistakes. If you think your post was wrongly held back, email above.support@newversion.studio.
5.0 REPORTING, HIDING AND BLOCKING
5.1 Tap the three dots on any reply to report it, hide it or block the member.
5.2 REPORT IT
Reports are private. Choose the reason that fits best:
(a) It's unkind or hurtful.
(b) It could put someone at risk.
(c) It gives medical or medication advice.
(d) It shares personal info.
(e) It's spam or off-topic.
The reply is hidden for you straight away, and our team takes a look. If several members report the same reply, it is hidden for everyone while it is reviewed.
5.3 HIDE IT
(a) Only you stop seeing it.
5.4 BLOCK THIS MEMBER
(a) You will not see their replies anywhere in the community. They will not be told.
(b) You can unblock them any time from "Blocked members" at the bottom of the community screen.
5.5 YOUR OWN REPLIES
(a) On your own replies, the three dots let you delete them.
(b) Deleting a reply also removes any replies to it, for everyone.
6.0 WHAT HAPPENS IF THE RULES ARE BROKEN
6.1 Depending on what happened, we may:
(a) Hide or remove a post.
(b) Stop someone posting in the community, for a time or for good.
(c) Close their account, in serious cases.
6.2 We tell you why where we can. To ask us to look at a decision again, email above.support@newversion.studio.
7.0 YOUR POSTS AND YOUR PRIVACY
7.1 Other members see your post and your first name, not your email or account details.
7.2 Your posts are deleted if you delete them or delete your account.
7.3 More is in our Privacy Policy at https://sites.google.com/view/above-app/privacy-policy.
8.0 QUESTIONS
8.1 Email above.support@newversion.studio.
Thank you for helping keep this a calm, kind place.
