"Camps is something that I am always looking forward to. As a part of your teaching experience, all the STEP teachers conduct a camp in the remote areas where regular REC STEP classes is not possible. The entire process of the camp gave me a new and unique learning experience. Starting from the Module planning, resource making, travelling, teaching and learning and finally reflecting on the journey. All of these aspects have given me an amazing opportunity to learn from colleagues, to understand the realities of Ismaili community living in different parts of Pakistan, also to explore and challenge my own teaching practices so that the kids will learn from the best practices."

"While Covid-19 posed many unprecedented challenges, it also pushed me beyond my comfort zone to adopt online teaching. Initially, it felt unreal because I could not implement kinesthetic and other active learning pedagogies, but gradually I learnt a whole new world of teaching approaches and collaborative tools that I could use online like mentimeter, mural, padlet etc. The most promising thing was rebuilding the connection and relation with the students, parents and community that I had lost when RECs closed down after the lockdown."

"I attended step camp in June 2018. It was a week camp with the young steppers from all over Karachi. From step participants to Step teachers, organizers and most importantly our mentors, everyone made this journey worth experiencing. The module ‘faith and practice’ that we learned at the camp incorporate a deeper understanding of our Islamic faith and the practices of our Ismaili tariqah. This has helped me unlock my skills and made me persistent in overcoming challenges. Above all, I was able to understand my role as an individual to bring positive change in society.

I would like to encourage the younger generation of our Jamat to enroll themselves in the step classes. Be punctual, actively participate and make friends. "

"STEP has played a vital role in my life by equipping me with knowledge, understanding and applications of our religious ethics, and values through interactive activities. "I still recall the day of didar when Mawlana Hazir Imam, in his farman, repeatedly emphasized on the act of learning. My reflection on STEP makes me believe that it has offered me a remarkable opportunity to learn and express myself.

The Reasons for STEP being an incredible and distinctive endeavor are its wonderfully articulated curriculum which did not only concentrate on subjects such as history, culture, and faith but also on the personal growth of the students. And the mentors who provided support and motivation not only during physical classes but also during the adverse time of the pandemic.

"I consider STEP to be one of the best initiatives that has been brought to the Ismaili youth.
