About me: Dr. Nancy McIntyre

I was born and raised in South Carolina, the youngest of 3 children. I earned my B.S. and M.S. degrees in zoology from the University of Georgia and my Ph.D. in ecology from Colorado State University. I then did a postdoc in urban ecology at Arizona State University before joining the faculty at TTU in 2000. I am a Full Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and Senior Curator of Birds at the Natural Science Research Laboratory at The Museum at Texas Tech University. My research is mainly in the area of landscape ecology (the study of how the spatial patterning of the environment affects ecological processes), and my focus is primarily on animals (especially birds and insects, particularly dragonflies and damselflies).

My hobbies include birding, wildlife photography, watching sports, playing piano, and running. You can follow me @landscape_nancy on Instagram for natural history tidbits.
