My situation is I bought a new Toshiba Satellite C850- F0155 with no OS. Installed Ubuntu 12.04 from a CD. But only way to connect to net is through ethernet cable (i.e. no wireless option). The wireless card is a Realtek RTL8188CE. My Kernal is 3.2.0-52-generic.

The driver you're looking for is no longer maintained by RealTek, so I've put it up on GitHub where I maintain it from version to version so that it compiles and works. So far, I as well as several others have had good experience using this driver. You can find the driver here on Github: -linux-driver

Unfortunately I installed CentOS 6.7 on a basic HP laptop without checking the wifi capability... which is a Realtek rtl8188EE. I've done some research on that particular driver which seems to have gone away. I'm about to try an rtl8188CE, and go from there. I'd already installed CentOS 7 on the box which actually did recognize the driver automatically. Which is great, except that I realized that I didn't really want to go to 7 yet because we only have RHEL 6 at work and need the OS cheaply (!) to work on my cert at home. So I went back to 6.7. Anyway without going out and buying a whole 'nother laptop, anyone ever had any luck with this? Thanks!

When I try and install the RTL8188CUS drivers downloaded from Realtek (using their install.sh shell script) I installed the drivers in 11.04 using individual commands to make, etc., and that worked OK, but using individual commands now gives the same error. What's changed in 11.10????

I did a completely fresh install of Ubuntu 11.10. I then followed the troubleshooting pages for wireless networking and found that the realtek rtl8192cu driver was in the library, and used modprob (I think) to enable it as directed. It is associated with the realtek usb adaptor in Network Manager, and one can see the available wireless networks (so I know its working to some extent). When I attempt to connect to my wifi network, it prompts for the WEP code and tries and tries to connect. When it times out, it prompts for the code again.

This package contains the driver installation package for the Realtek RTL8188EE, RTL8723BE, RTL8723DE, RTL8821CE, RTL8822BE, RTL8822CE, and RTL8852AE wireless LAN Controllers in the supported notebook and desktop models running a supported Windows 10

I had a hard time installing the wireless driver for my debian. My debian was Sqeeze but soon after I realized Wheezy was the one to support my wireless adapter, realtek 8188CE,I upgraded to wheezy. Here is my sources.list file:

Never for any reason should be mixed repositories from Debian stable with testing branch. However you can add in your repositories backport repository and then you can get a newer kernel to work with RTL8188CE Realtek driver

I have an old laptop running on Fedora Linux that has a RTL8188EE network ethernet card. It looks like my college just upgraded to WiFi6 (based on the connection I'm getting on my phone). My laptop cannot connect to the WiFi anymore.

I also run Fedora on some of my laptops. I can second that you can find AC and AX USB adaptors. But I can't say that driver support is always good. The Fedora repos lag behind for a lot of USB adaptors.

For example on Fedora33 my Netgear A6100 (802.11ac) dongle needed the RTL8821AU driver, which I had found in Github. But there was another package (I can't recall which), that always needed to be downgraded for the dongle to connect. Fedora35 tackled that...for now.

As far as I understood Realtek, they have a PCIe WLAN network card RTL8188EE which supports up to WiFi 4 and is hence limited to 2.4 GHz band as Mike and others have written. A network Ethernet card requires an Ethernet network cable and does not support any WiFi standard.

You need to create a package for the kernel module, yes. Look at package/kernel/mac80211/realtek.mk in your local git tree, that's a Makefile that already builds multiple Realtek drivers for OpenWrt. You can (and probably should) adapt it to work with rtl8188eus too.

Keep in mind Realtek's support for their wireless drivers is erratic, the code you're linking to is out of tree, so it might break on 5.4 (it seems the most recent push was for 5.2). But it never hurts to try.

To me (I'm not familiar with Realtek wireless) it looks like this one might be a better candidate for you though, since it already supports the mac80211 framework - and also the driver you're looking for:

Issue is:I have leoxsys LEO-NANO150N (RTL8188EUS) wifi adapter and inserted into one of the USB port is Raspberry pi module. After configuring (I have copied all config details in subsequent section) necessary (what i feel) files also it is not working.

I am wondering that whether both LAN and wifi works togther at same time in rapspberry pi, (yes, it should work) but just am thinking from my pi model and its OS keeping in mind. USB wifi product number is "RTL8188EUS", is it i have to have different kernel loaded into pi? If i see the error, it shows without external power, it works fine, means no need of external powered hub.

I have removed driver 'r8188eu' from staging areaWith my Jessie kernel, the driver r8188eu was placed at staging area and hence it was not allowing to load proper kernel, i got to know from below line entry in /var/log/messages file "r8188eu: module is from the staging directory, the quality is unknown, you have been warned. "

This made me to think in power perspective, though I have 1.0A capable power adapter for my pi, but it was not pushing that much power to wifi adapter in pi usb port, and hence it was not working proper, and driver detected it as disconnected.

If the driver listed is not the right version or operating system, search our driver archive for the correct version. Enter RealTek RTL8188/8191/8192 into the search box above and then submit. In the results, choose the best match for your PC and operating system.

Once you have downloaded your new driver, you'll need to install it. In Windows, use a built-in utility called Device Manager, which allows you to see all of the devices recognized by your system, and the drivers associated with them.

I found this problem while troubleshooting the installation and as it is not related with that, I am opening a more specific issue. I cannot get my internet driver to work properly and journalctl is overcrowded with errors relating to it to the point that it is using 8% of my cpu, on average. To start, I can use the internet, however only at very slow speeds (max at 1mb/s), while my wifi is much better. I know the issue is with it, because journalctl is complaining specifically about its port.

I have the same issue with a Lenovo IdeaCentre A720 all in one system. It has the Realtek RTL8188CUS WiFi card.It connects fine to my older router an Apple Extreme. It refuses to connect to my new Nighthawk Mesh WiFi 6 system. On the same desk as the Lenovo is a HP laptop that will connect without a problem. The satellite is less than 2 feet away from the computers.

So I recently purchased the Nighthawk RAX45 (AX4300 6 Stream Router) and I ran into the same issues that led me here. I couldn't connect my very old 2011 Asus laptop to the Nighthawk. I have the same model wifi adapter (Realtek RTL 8188CE). I recently got it to work by updating/installing one of the update files that was saved on my computer.

(The Microsoft version of this driver update does not work with the router. I went back to try it. It could not find the signal so it's important to use the "REALTEK SEMICONDUCTOR CORP" option if available.)

i was using Realtek RTL8723BE/RTL8188EE 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN Driverswhen I was using windows but after centos installation, my wifi adapter is not showing please anyone help me with this?

The issue may be that there was never offical compatiblity for the TL-WN725N V1 with windows 10. The chipset maker may have made one but TP-Link never confrimed the V1 of this adapter would work with Windows 10. Also it has been seen that each time MS updates Windows 10 there is always a chance current drivers will not work or have issues. In situations like that the Chipset make in this case realtek will have to look at the cause and develop a solution for that chipset. Since we do not give offical support for Windows 10 the best solution would be to check with Realtek if this particualr chipset will recieve an update for the new Windows 10 build. be457b7860
