Connection to ufas

UFAS (United Faculty and Academic Staff, AFT Local #223) is a labor union for UW-Madison faculty and academic staff employees. UFAS’ aim is to defend and increase the role and effectiveness of the employees it represents in shaping University policy and practices. We hope to achieve this by building on the concept of our vital and moral responsibility to work in concert to identify workplace problems, while protecting academic, civil, and personal freedoms of all persons in the University and society.

The Equity & Diversity Committee is a standing committee for UFAS to address goals related to promoting equity and combating discriminatory practices. Based on the committee’s stated politic, we believe that abolishing oppressive structures and systems is core to liberation along race, class, and gender lines and to building an equitable and diverse community.
