My grandfather Percy Mentore was born on March 25, 1940 in South America and came to the United States in 1959 with nothing but a dream and an unbreakable work ethic. He settled in Brooklyn, New York, worked tirelessly during the day and took classes at night, and through sheer persistence became one of the first five minority workers ever admitted into the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 28. He then started his own company out of a small basement and grew it into Professional Environmental Systems — a large scale business operating across multiple states. Percy did not just chase the American Dream. He built it with his own two hands.
But beyond the accomplishments, Percy was a family man at his core. He bought a home in Connecticut because he wanted fresh air, open space, and the best education possible for his children. He spent weekends outside with his family, teaching them how to garden and take pride in where they lived. He was the kind of man who led quietly — not with words but with actions, principles, and an endless generosity that everyone who knew him felt deeply.
I named this brand ABLE because that word is everything Percy embodied. He was always able — able to push through, able to build something from nothing, able to love deeply, able to lead humbly. And when his body started fighting against him in his final years, I saw what it looked like when someone whose whole life was defined by strength had to fight just to feel comfortable in their own skin. That image never left me.
ABLE is not just a recovery gel. It is a reminder that no matter what your body puts you through — whether you are a 16 year old athlete with sore muscles or someone whose joints ache every single morning — you are still able. You still have fight left. And you deserve something that helps you feel that way.
Every bottle of ABLE is made in honor of Percy Mentore. The man who came to this country with nothing and built everything. The man who showed me what it means to work hard, dream big, and never complain.
This one is for you Pop.
Feel able again.🩵
