As an artist, I work hard to develop art that speaks to both me and others about the passion and beauty that African Art holds in today's society. African Art has made a significant impact on the art community. Many artists such as Matisse and Picasso were crucial figures in spreading interest in African-influenced Art. My process before I began making African

art was to read and do research about the origin of African mask art and the meaning behind the mask; there is tons of history behind African Art. My goal is to recreate using an African clay mask that represents different areas and tribes in Africa. I do not want to capture the image of it just being a mask solely but more so the meaning and the importance behind that artwork. I want to give society life and the essence that African Art brings to the world.

Being of African descent, I will try to bring life into each finished ceramic art piece so the people can understand the forgotten culture. The Masks will display each mask's purpose, ideas, and innovations. The challenge is not to recreate these pieces of African Art but to educate its existence and the influence that African Art had, and its importance. I want my artwork to speak, not only for me but for the people with whom I share this incredible culture.
