Pictured above is David and Kayley Hughes, father and daughter.
David Hughes was moved to create A Bid For Charity in 2002, immediately following the tragic death of his friend Mark Bavis on 9/11. David was inspired to start Mark Lawrence Bavis Scholarship at their alma mater, Catholic Memorial High School. At the scholarship event he decided to auction off his personal memorabilia collection to establish the initial funds. The first event raised over $50,000.
When he saw how much attention the custom frames were receiving, David decided to start consigning his frames to other charities and foundations. This strategy allowed foundations to maximize their profits while having no initial out of pocket expenses.
He knew his love for sports memorabilia could serve a greater purpose. After helping to start The Mark Bavis Foundation, he went on to start the Claddagh Fund with Dropkick Murphy's front man, Ken Casey. Hughes is also deeply involved with The Ace Bailey Foundation and The Travis Roy Foundation.
Currently David is consigning his custom frames to numerous foundations and organizations with the help of his daughter Kayley.
