About me:
I am Abhijnan Maji, enrolled as a Doctoral Research Scholar in Transportation Engineering (Department of Civil Engineering) at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. I received the Prime Minister Research Fellowship in 2023 (Cycle 10). Before joining as a research scholar, I completed a Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Transportation Engineering (Department of Civil Engineering) from the National Institute of Technology Rourkela. I earned my Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) in Civil Engineering from the University Institute of Technology, Burdwan University. My bachelor's curriculum gave me comprehensive knowledge about my Civil Engineering background. Later on, during my Master's in Transportation Engineering, I worked on 'Service level modeling of motorized three-wheelers at un-signalized intersections under heterogeneous traffic flow conditions.' From this in-depth study, I undertook a detailed study on the traffic flow issues on Indian roadways due to the heterogeneity of vehicles and weak lane discipline. The study applied various statistical (regression techniques) and AI-ML techniques (Neural Networks).
After completing my M.Tech in Transportation Engineering, I wanted to expand my research horizons, and then I enrolled as a doctoral research scholar at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee under the supervision of Prof. Indrajit Ghosh, Professor of Transportation Engineering. My Doctoral Research work encompasses 'Driving behavior at roundabouts from a safety perspective,' where I want to emphasize the need to look into driving behavior and traffic safety evaluation at roundabouts under mixed traffic utilizing a proactive approach. The main focus of my work relies on evaluating the safety scenarios in Indian roundabouts. My research aims to identify key safety factors at roundabouts, safety perception among roundabout users, assess different data collection methods, and evaluate safety models.
