I grew up at a small town (Chengyang) in Qingdao, a coastal city in eastern China. I stayed there most of the time for the first 18 years of my life, and then came to the US for college in 2014. I studied philosophy and linguistics in College of William and Mary from 2014-2018 before I joined the PhD program at the philosophy department of the Ohio State University in 2018. I defended my dissertation in 2024, and will begin my MA studies in anthropology at the New School in 2025.
A lot of my philosophical views have been minority views. My undergraduate honors thesis is a defense of interactionist dualism. I'm leaning towards theism. I'm also pretty convinced that moral nihilism is true ever since I wrote the final paper for my first philosophy class on contemporary moral issues. So yes, I'm a theist moral nihilist who likes both Kierkegaard and Nietzsche.
Outside of anthropology and philosophy I read mangas, listen to music (mostly folk, rock, and classical) and play video games (mostly dota 2). My favorite (non-human) animals are cats and cheetahs. Here's a picture of my cat, Cubone.
