Aberdeen Hospital Alumni Archives project 2025 "A legacy of Caring"
The Archives committee of the Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing fundraiser, aims to create a serene and healing space on the grounds of the Aberdeen hospital in honour of our Schools of Nursing, Radiology and Laboratory of Technology.
This space will serve as a peaceful retreat for staff, visitors, patients and alumni, providing a garden for reflection, healing and inspiration.
Our goal is to raise funds to design, construct and maintain a garden, ensuring it remains a vibrant and welcoming sanctuary for years to come.
The garden will feature native plants, quiet seating areas and an engraved memorial stone, embodying the spirit of care and compassion that our Schools represents.
Join us in honouring the legacy of our nursing school by contributing to this meaningful project.
Your support will help create a lasting tribute that celebrates the dedication and hard work of all who have walked through its halls.
Together, we can build a place of healing and remembrance that will inspire future generations.

Significant clues about the past can be found in archival materials: artifacts, documents and records. Researchers are able to examine and comprehend a great deal of our past thanks to archival materials, in all their formats. Donating your documents and artifacts ensures the long-term preservation of archive material and contributes to society's collective memory. We also give future users access to the records' contents for research purposes.
It is crucial to keep in mind that records do not have to be "old" or pertain to a well-known person in order to be considered historically relevant.
Records that describe who the graduate is, when the graduate gat you did, and what you were involved in are usually of interest to archives. Records could include:
For individuals:
· Correspondence
· Manuscripts of published works authored by you or your ancestor, and any other notes, memos, etc.
· personal diaries
· articles and reports authored by you
· photographs
· photograph albums
· scrapbooks
· personal video or audio recordings
For organizations:
· articles of incorporation, bylaws, policies
· executive board and committee minutes
· correspondence
· planning documents
· summary financial documents
· reports and briefs
· newsletters
· press releases
Archives are not interested in the following:
· Text books
· Year books
· Financial records
· General publications such as newspapers and magazines (or clippings from these) unless organized as specific subject files and related to your work.
· Uniforms, caps or capes.
