What is Croquet? - Croquet is an enjoyable friendly sport involving skill, tactics and strategy – it is easy to learn the basics and novices are able to begin playing an actual game within ten minutes.  It suits all ages and abilities and everyone is welcome.

[Association Croquet and Golf Croquet are the two main variants of the game played in the UK.  Association Croquet is a complex game in which players score many hoop points in a single turn by playing breaks.  We play Golf Croquet which is a simpler shorter game in which players get one stroke per turn, and when a hoop is scored all players move on to the next one.]

Our history – Aberystwyth Croquet Club came into being in September 2023, but our founding members played informally for two years prior to that.  2024 is our first full season as a club.

When do we play?  – Club sessions are held from 2.00pm to 4.00pm on Tuesday afternoons between April and September. Thursday afternoons will be used for friendly matches against others clubs and as an alternative club session when Tuesdays are wet.

Venue

We play at Y Geufron, the home ground of Aberystwyth Cricket Club.  To find us, head for the domestic waste site on Glanyrafon Industrial Estate and look for the yellow barrier gates immediately ahead of you that mark the entrance to the private access road leading to the ground – it’s narrow so take care.

Our Facilities

There is plenty of free on-site parking and we have full use of the Cricket Club’s pavilion consisting of a main lounge/dining area with kitchen, toilets, etc. We have two croquet courts immediately adjacent to the pavilion, which can accommodate sixteen players at any one time. All necessary equipment is provided.

The Club is affiliated to the Welsh Croquet Association and is a member club of  Croquet England. We have Ribbon status from Disability Sports Wales.
