I am Adediran Abdulmujeeb Adewale, a graduate from the Department of Special Education, Faculty of Education, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. I majored in Intellectual Disability Unit during my undergraduate studies because of my love for children with special needs, most especially, those with developmental disabilities. I enjoy working with these children because I feel that they have an entirely different way of looking at the world and they are unique beings. I have always wanted to improve their lives, but at the same time make learning fun and interesting instead of dull and tedious.
Throughout my academic journey, I have had the privilege to volunteer with various special needs schools and organisations. As a matter of fact, I have gathered lot of experiences in handling children with unique abilities. I have worked with children with Autism, Down syndrome, behavioral disorders, cerebral palsy, and those with learning disabilities among others. Aside from this, during my six weeks of teaching practice at the Terranjos Foundation, a school that caters for pupils with special needs, I developed interest in working with adolescents with behavioral disorders. This invariably sparked up my interest to consider solving the problems of oppositional defiant disorder in adolescents with mild intellectual disability as my final year project using behavioral therapy.Â
During my undergraduate, I consistently demonstrated a commitment to academic and leadership achievements, resulting in numerous awards of excellence both in academics and leadership. This recognition serves as a testament to my hard-work and perseverance.
