University of Ibadan Undergraduate Math Research Experience
To foster a culture of mathematical exploration and research among undergraduate students in Nigeria, I am establishing a dedicated research team. This initiative seeks to provide a supportive environment for budding mathematicians, as the absence of Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REUs) within the country has underscored the need for such a platform. My primary goal is to inspire and engage undergraduate students in mathematical research, nurturing their passion for the subject and preparing them for future academic and professional pursuits in the field.
My approach to motivating these undergraduate students towards producing research papers involves a two-fold process. First, I focus on enhancing their understanding of special functions, providing them with a solid foundation. Subsequently, I assign projects that they could work on or envision themselves working once they acquire the necessary prerequisites. This structured approach not only fosters their research skills but also instills confidence and a clear path toward meaningful contributions in the future.
