AB-C-DE Family Retreat is a DESTINATION itself. Take your family vacation in a different direction this year. Fun filled family activities await your participation! Be sure to check out the farm animals and farm store next door. (Well, five minute walk.)

[ABCDE is pronounced "AbSiDee". It has multiple meanings, including: One who impresses others and is elegant.]

This 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom short term rental welcomes your family for vacation or a business trip to South Carolina’s midlands.

You will enjoy the best of old meets new in this modern farmhouse themed home in the woods. Upcycled furniture combined with new appliances, beds (quality cool gel mattress) and other amenities.

Our goal is to provide you, our guest(s), with a quiet place of rest and relaxation when we are not using it. As grandparents we know the importance of activities for all ages. There are on-site things to do and you are within reasonable proximity to plenty of family oriented activities as well. [See "Vacation" and "Things to do in Orangeburg" pages for more detail.]

Close to our house is a family homestead featuring gardens and over 250 animals. Visitors interested in experiencing the small farm (homestead) lifestyle or just learning more about where our food comes from need only take a five minute walk. Be sure to check out the farm store while at The Urban Roost.

If you plan to visit your student, this is a great place to have some family time.

[There are many colleges serving the area, including 5 private colleges and universities, 2 public colleges and universities, and 3 community colleges offering 2-year degrees.]

Pricing:

Minimum stay is 2 days (Sunday-Wednesday), 3 days if one is Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

Maximum stay is 29 days (per Short Term Rental [STR] law).

* Just a note to be aware about potential noise:

Sometimes you will hear planes really close. We are on the landing path for the auxiliary air force base. The first time will scare you, then it is nothing. Glad they only practice maneuvers occasionally.
Gun fire might be heard on occasion. We are next to a couple of hundred acres of prime hunting land. Way out of the range of bullets, but not sound.

Environmentally Conscious, Eco Friendly:

This “Smart” home is all electric with computer controls. Program override instructions are onsite for your comfort.

We upcycle, recycle, repurpose, reuse wherever possible and it makes sense to do so. Old is blended with new for maximum comfort and creativity. Let’s face it, furniture used to be built better but new mattresses are far superior. We take the best of both then mix and match to create themes. We believe form follows function and that you can do both. Our online retail company is built on this concept. We used many products from abcdemercantile.com to furnish this home.
