Welcome to ABA ScoreCard, your digital companion for paperless archery scoring. Built in compliance with Australian Bowhunters Association (ABA) and IFAA rules, this guide covers everything you need to set up, score, and export your rounds.
Configure all match parameters on the Session Setup screen:
Round Type: Select your format from the dropdown menu (ABA 1, 2, & 3 Arrow, IFAA Field, Hunter, & Animal, 3D Tournaments, or Practice).
Location & Round Number: Tap the + button under Round Type to select or save favourite clubs (e.g., Toowoomba), then pick a round designation (Practice or Round #1–#6).
Scoring Options:
Pro Ring: Enable for ABA rounds to award 21–25 points for centre hits.
Sunday Fun Day: Toggle for casual club shoots.
Target Count: Adjust total targets (e.g., 14, 20, or 28).
Number of Archers: Choose your group size (1 to 6 shooters).
Tap Set Archers to assign your shooting group:
Saved Archers: Tap the Contacts icon next to the Name field to load a profile from your Usual Suspects list.
Manual Entry: Enter the shooter's Name and ABA Number, then select their Division, Gender, and Age Category. The app generates the official Division Code automatically (e.g., AMFU).
Auto-Sync: Changing a saved archer's division during setup updates their default profile when the session starts.
Editing Profiles: Go to Usual Suspects in the main menu and long-press a name for 1.5 seconds to edit saved details.
The scoring grid adapts automatically to your selected round type:
Entering Scores: The keypad limits inputs based on the format (e.g., stops after the first hit on ABA 3-Arrow; accepts 4 arrows for IFAA Field). Color-coded buttons and animations confirm each entry.
Switching Archers: Tap the Orange Side Arrows or swipe left/right to change shooters on the active target.
Target Ribbon: Use the top horizontal ribbon to jump directly to any target number.
Tap the Ledger tab at any point during a round:
Score Table: View arrow-by-arrow values, target sums, and running totals for all archers.
Round Completion: Entering the final score triggers a summary screen announcing the winner.
Save & Finish: Tap Save & View History to lock the session and access export tools.
All completed shoots are archived under Scoring History:
PDF Scorecards: Tap the Share icon on any past round to generate a formatted PDF ledger with full match metadata (Date, Time, Location, and Round #).
Google Drive Backup: Tap the Cloud icon in the top menu to sync your history to ABAScoreCard_FullBackup.xml.
Bluetooth Transfer: Send a completed session directly to another shooter's device nearby.
Lock Records: Long-press any history entry to Lock it against accidental deletion.
Official Rule Books: Open full ABA and IFAA PDF rule sets directly from the main menu.
Interactive Guide: Turn on Guide: ON to display step-by-step help tooltips throughout setup.
High-Contrast Mode: Switch themes in the menu for improved screen visibility in bright sunlight.
Sample Mode: Toggle this in the About menu to generate test data for previewing ledgers and PDF exports.
7. Wireless Bluetooth Sharing
Easily transfer completed rounds or session data directly between Android devices without requiring an internet connection.
Step 1: Device Preparation
System Pairing: Ensure both Android devices are paired in your phone's native settings (Settings > Connected Devices > Pair New Device).
Permissions: Upon launching the Share screen for the first time, select Grant Bluetooth Permissions to allow nearby device scanning.
Step 2: Receiving a Round (Recipient)
Open the main menu, select Share Round, and tap Receive Round.
Tap Allow when the system prompts to make your device discoverable (active for 300 seconds).
Remain on the "Waiting for Round..." screen until the transfer completes.
Step 3: Sending a Round (Sender)
Open the main menu, select Share Round, and choose the target session from your history list.
Locate and tap the recipient’s device under the Paired Devices or Discovered Devices list. Tip: If the device is missing, tap the Refresh Icon in the top-right corner to re-scan.
The app will automatically connect and push all session data, including archer profiles and exact arrow breakdowns.
Step 4: Completion
The recipient will receive a "Round Received!" alert.
The shared file will instantly populate in the recipient's Scoring History for ledger viewing or PDF export.
