Co-Founder & Chairman
Boris is an alumnus of CUNY Hunter College with a BA Degree in Statistics and an upcoming cycle applicant to medical schools. He decided that this committee was needed when he noticed the lack of knowledge the community had in healthcare. Additionally, the rising concern of the opioid abuse epidemic in the community was an issue that required a team of motivated individuals to tackle together. He and long-time pal Jonathan Koptyev co-founded the committee in June of 2018.
Director of Literacy and Publication, Assistant Chairman
Sam is currently a student at St. John's University pursing his Masters Degree in Biology St. John's University, where he researches molecular splicing . He was drawn to the committee because of its emphasis on guiding Pre-Health Bukharian students into graduate schools. Sam joined the committee during the summer of 2018.
Director of Marketing and Public Relations
Roman is a student at Hunter College in the Yalow Scholars Honors Program majoring in Bioinformatics and minoring in Computer Science. He joined the committee with the hopes of educating the youth about various medical fields and increasing awareness of public health issues and how to combat them. Roman joined the committee after he attended the 2018 Aspiring Health Professionals Panel.
Director of Ethics, Assistant Director of Social Media
Melanie is currently in the Macaulay Honors College in Queens College pursuing a BA degree Biology & Neuroscience. She became interested in the committee when she attended the Narcan training event and took special interest in the opioid epidemic. As a pre-dental student, she hopes to help other pre-health students and raise awareness of health issues in the community. Melanie joined the committee in February of 2019.
Director of Halacha
Elazar is currently studying at the Yeshiva University Honors Program. He is going through the pre-med track with a major in Economics. He joined the ABA Health Committee because it gives him an opportunity to give back to the community on a greater level. Elazar joined the committee in June of 2019.
Director of Finances and Fundraising
Daniel is currently a student at the Macaulay Honors College at Queens College pursuing a BA degree in Biology and Neuroscience. Daniel was the captain of his high school swim team and enjoys playing the guitar and reading books. He is really proud of his Bukharian heritage and believes that the strength of the community depends on the involvement, as well as knowledge and experience sharing of each member. In Daniel’s eyes, being a member of the committee is his chance to give back and serve others.
Head of Community Relations
Alon is currently a student in the Macaulay Honors College in Baruch College and is pursuing a Bachelors of Arts in Biological Sciences. He enjoys playing sports, volunteering at hospitals, and singing. He comes from a business school where he learned the importance of networking and organizing events to promote any organizations mission. Alon hopes to use those skills and apply them toward the endeavors of the committee in a way where he can impact peoples' lives.
Assistant Director of Volunteer Services
Benjamin currently attends Bard High School Early College Queens in Long Island City. The Bukharian community has been a great support system for him and so he wishes to give back through serving on the committee. He has always been interested in the health field and wants to be a part of the difference we make in educating other about health, and providing them with various opportunities. Benjamin has been working as a basketball coach for the past year and a half at the local YMCA, has helped teach karate for more than two years, and has worked at several summer camps.
Assistant Director of Visual Arts
Abigail currently attends St. John's University. She is studying Biology in hopes of pursuing a career in dentistry. Attending several ABA events, she gained an interest in taking part of an organization that spreads information to the youth of her community. She hopes to raise awareness of the many prevalent health issues, and give back to fellow pre-health students. She joined the commitee in November of 2019.
Assistant Director of Social Media
Rachel is currently a student at Touro College pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Biology Honors. She joined the committee in hopes of becoming more engaged in her community, and in helping to educate the youth about the medical field including all that it entails. She strives to become a dentist, and seeks to give back and help many others striving for similar goals. She joined the committee in November of 2019.
Co-founder & Executive Consultant
After completing his undergraduate degree at Columbia University, Jonathan co-founded the ABAHC with the vision of improving the overall health of his community. Currently, he is pursuing his M.D. at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and as a future physician, he wants to provide care for not only the Bukharian community of Queens but also other underserved communities. During his free time, Jonathan enjoys hazzanut, tutoring, and spending time with his wife and daughter.
Executive Consultant, Former Board Member
During his undergraduate studies at St. John’s University, Boris focused on improving wellness across the greater Queens communities. Boris serves as an adviser to the Chairman and is pursuing his J.D. at the St. John’s University School of Law. As a future attorney, he is eager to utilize his extensive experiences in leadership roles to advocate for medical advancement and community engagement.
Executive Consultant, Former Board Member
Currently pursuing a dental degree at Rutger's University in New Jersey, Daniel plans to specialize in highly competitive fields in dentistry. During his time at CUNY Hunter College, he was president of a variety of philanthropic organizations on campus including the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation at Hunter College. He hopes to excel in his studies and bring high-level dental precision practices to the Bukharian community in the future.
