African Amphibian Working Group

The next meeting of the AAWG will be held in the town of George, in the Western Cape Province, South Africa from 7-8 October 2019. All those working on African Amphibians are invited to attend. All delegates will be expected to present their work.

Costs will be kept to a minimum. Provisional costs for the meeting (venue, lunches, teas) will be ± ZAR 750 (approximately USD 60).

There is a range of accommodation options, all within walking distance of the venue: Garden Route Botanical Gardens, George. Details will be provided in the Second Notice.

For delegates from outside South Africa: Fly in to Johannesburg or Cape Town, and then take a local flight to George. We will provide a free shuttle between airport and accommodation, or car-hire can be arranged. The venue is only a few minutes from George airport.

George is close to the Outeniqua Mountains, and is the home to interesting frogs such as Breviceps fuscus, Afrixalus knysnae (pictured above) and Heleophryne regis.
