Transitioning from a corporate job to freelancing is a huge life decision. People somehow don't remain within the same career for his or her entire life. Perhaps you're in that career because you graduated from it. Some already build a career from there or some simply take it to have a job. I must say that we always want something better. Right?

I know that I'd be much happier if I build my very own business. On the other hand, doing so would sacrifice the years of my hard work and career development.

I worked as a Purchasing Officer in a manufacturing company for 4 years and 3 months. That is a quite long year of service on one company on behalf of me, well, based only on my friends and college batchmate job path. I already build my career there, from a staff to an officer that was an achievement. However, my dream is to control my own business not to stay in a corporate job and be stuck right there for another year. So, I was looking for a business where I can start with small capital but searching is not an easy job and I know someday I have to execute everything not just reading and watching about it.

Why I chose Freelancing?

There are several reasons why I chose Freelancing (Family, Time, Independence, Money):

• Flexible - Work part-time or during off-business hours. More time with your family and friends.

• Affordable to start a business - if you already have the skills. I took paid courses and watched a lot of tutorial videos on Youtube to get the skills I need to start my freelancing career. I took Digital Marketing, Graphic Design, and currently taking Freelancing Course.

• Greater Independence - since this is already your business, you have the control and this is a great way to leverage your skills.

• "Sources" of income - your income increases as your workload increases and of course behind all of those increases your skill set must improve.

I may be a newbie in this business but dedicating my time learning everything I need to know and leveling up my skills so that I could finally say "I achieved it. I made it."
