Founder
Tony DelaRosa is one of the cofounders of NYC Men Teach AATEND. He taught for 8 years in Indy, Boston, and Miami, and served as a leadership and instructional coach. He is now pursuing his PhD at UW-Madison's Education Leadership and Policy Analysis program focused on Asian American Ethnic Studies Policy and Practice. He is the author of the book, "Teaching the Invisible Race: Embodying a Pro-Asian American Lens in Schools" with Jossey-Bass Publishing.
Facilitator
Lawrence is a Biology and AP Psychology teacher who sees learning and teaching science as a way for students to gain a better appreciation for themselves and the world around them. As a mentor with NYC Men Teach, he supports new educators and guides them on their educational journey. Since joining AATEND in 2022, Lawrence has become invested in building community and solidarity among Asian American educators, a field in which their representation remains limited.
Former Program Lead
Ben was born and raised in Queens, NY and is a first generation Indonesian-American. After committing 8 years working with Maspeth Town Hall Inc, a local non-profit organization, he is now a full time certified math and computer science teacher for the Department Of Education. He has also committed some time with CUNY working with young adults at Hunter College as an adjunct lecturer. He believes in bridging the gap between students and their dreams whether it be college, trade-school, entrepreneurship, or a better version of themselves. In addition, as a coach with the NYCMT AATEND, he mentors and coaches teacher(s) who seek the support they need to further advance their careers. His hobbies include, basketball, fitness, and spending time with his family.
Former Network Lead
Tommy was born in Vietnam but was raised in the Bronx, New York. He currently still lives and works in the Bronx and has worked as a Special Education teacher for the past four years. Outside the classroom, he enjoys practicing Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, spending time outdoors and hanging with his Frenchie.
Former Program Lead
Zuobin currently serves in a district leader role in the Bronx. He previously served as a Program Manager at NYC Men Teach. Prior to that, he was a high school math and computer science (CS) teacher for seven years. In addition to teaching, he served as his school's CS Lead, planning and organizing CS activities and events. He continues to teach mathematics as an adjunct assistant professor at NYU.
To give back to the teaching field, he has served as a coach for Asian American male teachers through NYC Men Teach. He was also a 2022-2023 CSTA Equity Fellow.
