W1.1 Orientation - Introduction to ISTP

A1.1.1:-Â Orientation was given about the course objective & main aspects which include how to generate project idea, collection and analysis of data, and communicating the project outcome via report, oral and poster presentation.
A1.1.2:- ISTP Guideline & The 2023 Agenda For Sustainable Development were released (posted on Telegram channel)
W1.2 Our Group members meet with AdvisorÂ

A1.2.1:- Team members met with each other and our advisor explained briefly how the project work continue, how much time we have and how to use it wisely.
A1.2.2:- Our advisor told us for the next week (W2) to prepare any project idea which participate at least 3 out of the four science fields beside they must satisfy at least one of the 8 ISTG goals as well as AASTU Innovation Center objectives

A2.1.1:- After we met, We submitted our project ideas and had a discussion with our advisor and among our selves to choose the best project idea based on the criteria's mentioned on ISTP Guideline. The advisor gave comments for each team member idea and told us to recheck and crosscheck them for the next meeting.

W3.1 Group meet with Advisor and Project Idea Selection [Form B]

A2.1.1:- We met at our advisor's office and each member gave his comment on each topics and after putting the pros and cons of each project ideas, we have agreed and selected one project idea which is making a natural toothpaste using chemical such as activated carbon, calcium carbonate, Aluminum hydroxide e.t.c by Yoseph Biya from Industrial Chemistry Department.

A4.1.1:- After dividing task among our selves to write the proposal based on the format, we are working on it and we have also contacted lab assistants to check if the raw materials we need to make the toothpaste are available and the Lab technicians told us that the lab is ready to start the experiment. However some chemicals have to be purchased from outside.

A5.1:- We met with our advisor 1:30 pm submitted the Final proposal paper of our project.(one copy is left with the advisor for refence purpose).
📌The other copy of the proposal is given to AVP and they will examine it and send to finance office for budget release.
📌We expect that the finance office will give us the budeget to do our project until this week's friday.
📌After that, we( the group memebers) will meet, purchase the raw materials needed and start working

W7 Laboratory ExperimentÂ
Date:- Wednesday, May 5-8, 2023
Time:- 6:30am- 9:30am

A7.1:- Started our first experiment with the chemicals we got from the lab but still we need some chemicals which are not found in the lab. some of the activites we done this week:
We mixed Activated carbon with glycerol and we checked it for its solubility.
We tried to create antimicrobial from Tetracycline but we failed

A8.1:- We met with our advisor and talked about how the project was preceding and we also discussed that our product should be rigid and attractive.

A:- we discussed with our advisor about how to effectively use the assigned budget and we also told that any purchase we did have to be with receipt.

W9&10 We purchased Chemicals and Perform Experiment
Date:- Wednesday, May 8-21, 2023
Time:- Lab Activity---6:30pm-9:30pm
Activities
A10:- Our team member yabsira assefa went to mercato and purchased the chemicals and we performed the first experiment with full materials and we got Avery promising result and then at Friday we discussed that we should improve the gel property and the we agreed that we should homogenize the toothpaste to give it more gel like structure.Â

A10:- we made our final product but during the production process we noticed that the heating process was not necessary so in the next production we corrected it and we got a better product and we will finally homogeniz it at Monday May 29.
