This page provides some subject resources relevant to our research areas. These should be useful to those who are both new to the subject matter or who are looking for some nice review materials, and those looking for extensive databases.
I am always looking for more freely available resources. If you know of a collection that is not already available here, please let me know and I will add a new link.
This website provides a nice collection of images and detailed explanations for fundamental topics of geology, largely focused on petrology and mineralogy.
Mindat.org is a fantastic database for minerals and includes spectacular images as well as a wide variety of data/information regarding the species and groups.
Webmineral.com is another great and freely available database for minerals with pictures, occurence information, and other data.
An extension of RRUFF.net, the American Mineralogist Crystal Structure database focuses on the arrangements of atoms in mineral crystals. Here, files to create 3D digital models and predict X-ray diffraction patterns may be found.
