Role and Responsibility: The Aalto University is a foundation-based university in the fields of science, economics, and art and design. The university is committed to deliver high standard of research and quality educations to the students through international research partnerships and joint ventures by exchanging staff expertise in a structured and planned manner. The Electronic Circuit Design Unit (ECDU) is part of the Department of Micro- and Nanosciences (DMN), at Aalto University and provides a world class platform for performing advanced research in the field of microelectronics. Dr. Kari Halonen (Professor, DMN) is specialized in analog, mixed-mode, RF and millimeter wave integrated circuit designs as per the needs of electronics industries. Presently, the focal point of Dr. Halonen’s research activities is related to the advancement of a battery free wireless sensor nodes for IoT based applications.

India:

IIT Indore

Coordinator: Dr. Santosh Kumar Vishvakarma, IIT Indore, India

Role and Responsibility: Indian Institute of Technology, Indore (IIT-I) is the one of the premier science, technology and educational research institute in India. IIT Indore is actively involved in leading research areas ranging from astronomy to nanotechnology. The “Nanoscale Devices, VLSI circuit and system design lab” fall under the discipline of Electrical Engineering. The research in the area of IoT, SRAM Design, multi-gate device modeling & characterization, Ser-Des transceiver design, flash memories and etc is conducted in the department. Dr. Santosh Vishvakarma (Assistant professor, IIT-I) who is involved in the project, works in the development of MOS device Modeling (Double Gate, FinFETs, Trigate etc.) and Gate-All-Around MOS Devices. Dr. Vishvakarma also contributes to circuit level implementation of advanced CMOS devices (DG, FinFETs, etc.) technologies. Presently, Dr. Vishvakarma is also an advisory committee member in various Indian government schemes for the development of infrastructure for IoT-based research.

IIT Roorkee

Coordinator: Dr. Sudeb Dasgupta, IIT Roorkee, India

Role and Responsibility: Microelectronics and VLSI group at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT-R) envisions bridging the gap between academic institutions and Microelectronics industry. The group is working in varied areas of interest ranging from device modelling to system design, organic electronics and optoelectronics amongst others. Dr. Sudeb Dasgupta (Professor, IIT-R), who is involved in this project is contributing in the field of the development of ultra-Low power adiabatic Logic for portable applications, subthrehsold logic-based digital systems. In addition, Dr. Dasgupta also contributes in the study of radiation effects on ICs, semiconductor modelling of novel semiconductor devices, FinFETs, PDSOI, FDSOI and Nanoelectronics.

IIIT Hyderabad

Coordinator: Dr. Sachin Chaudhary, IIIT Hyderabad, India

Role and Responsibility: Indian Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-H) is a research university focused on the core areas of Information and communication Technology. Signal Processing and Communications Research Centre (SPCRC) at IIIT-H is focused on the various areas of communications and signal processing. Presently, the research in the field of the development of next generation wireless systems (5G), cognitive radios, wireless sensor networks and Internet of Things (IoT) applications, coding theory, and communication networks is progressing. Dr. Sachin Chaudhari (Assistant Professor, SPCRC, IIIT-H), who is involved in this project, conducts research on the development and implementation of novel signal processing algorithms for IoT network. Their research is targeted toward an increase of the algorithm's reliability, robustness, coverage and battery-life, for the multiple heterogeneous sensors based IoT network.

NIT Jalandhar

Coordinator: Dr. Balwinder Raj, NIT Jalandhar, India

Role and Responsibility: Dr B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar (NIT) established in the year 1987 (Deemed University) of the Government of India under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi. Dr. Balwinder Raj (Assistant professor, NIT) who is involved in the project works in the area of low power digital systems, advanced memory design, Nanoscale devices, circuits and system integrations and IoT based implementation.

IET-DAVV Indore

Coordinator: Dr. Vaibhav Neema, IET-DAVV, Indore, India

Role and Responsibility: Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) is a premier university in the central India. The university represents twenty seven teaching departments offering undergraduate, post-graduate and research programs in sixteen faculties. It is amongst the first few Universities in the country, which has inaugurated innovative and integrated courses in the area of science, engineering, technology, management, law and media. Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) is a teaching department of the university. Dr. Vaibhav Neema (Assistant professor IET-DAVV) who is involved in this project, mainly focused on Low power Digital System Design. Presently, Dr. Neema's group is participating in the research activities related to IoT as a Solution for Smart city and Smart Education, in coordination with the different academic and industrial partners.

Role and Responsibility: iSquareR, USA are indigenously creating new & smart technologies in collaboration with some of the brightest fresh minds in India with an aim to re-write the way technologies are created and implemented to enable smartness in day to day Indian life by organizing the Un-organized sectors. The company is fully focused on Indian market and actively participating in the Indian government campaigns known as Digital India and Make-in-India. The company is using system on chip (SoC) approach for application developments for smart home, retail, logistics and advertising.

Knoxia Technologies, India

Coordinator: Mr. Sushil Verma

Role and Responsibility: Knoxia Technologies, India (KT) conducts embedded systems research, design, development, marketing as well as embedded systems consulting. The expertise of the company is in the field of embedded System design and development, industrial automation design and development, internet of things / Web design and development and Mobile application design and development. In addition, the company undertakes all maintenance duties for embedded systems facilities and organizations. In this project, KT will share their embedded hardware expertise with the students. These will include hands on training practice for addressing IoT based problems by the use of subsist embedded systems.
