Cal Newport

• Cal Newport is a computer science professor who writes books about how technology impacts work and life.  

• The three books most relevant to this presentation are Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World, A World Without Email: Reimagining Work in the Age of Communication Overload, and Slow Productivity: The Lost Art of Accomplishment Without Burnout. His most popular book, Deep Work, has sold over a million copies. Slow Productivity, which came out in March, is his latest book. 

• In addition to these books, Newport regularly writes for the New Yorker, hosts the weekly Deep Questions podcast, and writes periodic blog posts.

• He is currently working on a book about how to live a deep life.
