PORTLAND, Oregon, March 31, 2022 — The Portland chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA Portland) is proud to announce the 2023 AAJA Portland Diversity and Inclusion Awards.

The awards will recognize the best journalism published during 2022 about issues that, through discrimination or structural inequity, disproportionately affect people of color or other underresourced groups in Oregon and/or southwest Washington. AAJA Portland is particularly interested in work that focuses on antiracism and social justice.

Submissions will open in early 2023, with judging categories and submission guidelines to be announced at that time.

The competition will be open to journalists working in Oregon and/or southwest Washington, including student journalists. The inaugural 2023 awards will come with monetary prizes and will not include entry fees, thanks to the support of the Fred W. Fields Fund of Oregon Community Foundation (OCF).
