About Us

Able Artists Gallery, established in March 2021, is the non-profit art gallery of its parent company, EnhanceAbility.org, whose mission is to enhance the lives of individuals with special needs, and therefore, only employs individuals with special needs. All art showcased in the gallery are the works of talented individuals with disabilities. 

In February 2022, Able Artists Gallery expanded its offerings to include Professional Art and Photography Printing Services for not only the gallery's artists, but also the general public. In addition to being a great local source for giclee printing needs and creating revenue that directly helps those with disabilities, this expansion has led to the employment of more person's with disabilities.

Karen Walker, Co-Founder, President - The President of EnhanceAbility and Owner of Allied Instructional Services, is a certified teacher of the blind and visually impaired and orientation and mobility instructor who has dedicated her life to enhancing the lives of individuals with special needs.  In addition, she is a proud parent of Lauren Walker, one of the resident artists in the gallery who is diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Ms. Walker and the other board members of EnhanceAbility recognized the artistic talent that lies within the population of individuals with disabilities, such as Ms. Walker's daughter's and the many students that she and the teachers and therapists within her company work with. Ms. Walker and her daughter, with the support of the non-profit, founded the gallery as a space for these talented artists to showcase and offer for sale their works, while also bringing enjoyment to others through the beauty and appreciation of art.

Other than donating and volunteering, the best way to support the gallery and its artists is by purchasing our artwork or utilizing our printing services. Taking home or gifting art or print work from our gallery facilitates hope, pride, and opportunity.

Lauren Walker, Co-founder and Print Shop Manager,  As the daughter of Karen Walker, she was the inspiration that led to the founding of Able Artists Gallery.  Lauren, an talented artist that was diagnosed as having Aspergers at the age of 5, found art as her way to escape from the stressors in life that she was facing and allowed her to create various pieces of art that she would find joy in giving to others.  Lauren, now an adult still loves creating art in an effort to bring joy to others.  Her art can be found throughout the gallery.  Lauren manages the day-to-day operations of the gallery's professional art and photography giclee printing services.

Suz Nellis, Gallery Manager - Suz is not only the manager and curator of the gallery, she is an incredible special artist herself.  Her many works, including clay work, jewelry, and so much more can be found throughout the gallery.
