OUR MISSION: To serve as an avenue for students to learn about aided augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and to serve as a general information resource on AAC for the university and local community.
Augmentative and Alternative Communication
Aided AAC:
a. No Tech
(paper-based communication boards)
b. Light-Tech
(simple voice recording, limited vocab electronic devices)
c. High-Tech AAC
(dedicated speech generating devices and hybrids, such as iPads/tablets with installed aided language applications)
Unaided AAC:
sign-language, body language, and facial expressions
