The Anne Arundel Community College Environmental Center (AACC EC) seeks to expand its infrastructure to support the monitoring, collection, and dissemination of submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) in Anne Arundel County waterways. The long-term objective is to increase SAV acreage while engaging and educating students, interns, and the broader community about SAV’s critical role in improving water quality and overall ecosystem health.
We are already planning for 2026 and there are many ways to participate. We go out on the local rivers to scout sites that have established SAV beds for surveying and to find locations for collection and dissemination. We take groups out to get right in and collect plant material and then process the material back at AACC. Dates are scattered over the summer from early June through the end of August, so please reach out if interested. tldomanski@aacc.edu
